Patrick Rooney -- Partner

Patrick RooneyPatrick Rooney is a Partner of Zócalo Group.

Prior to Zócalo Group, Patrick was president of Expand Communications, a firm he founded with the belief that the future of long-term competitive advantage will in part be based on which companies can achieve open, honest and mutually-beneficial dialogue with customers – and those who influence them.

Patrick has worked with some of the world’s best-known companies to create inventive, innovative and focused communications programs.  His expertise in strategic planning, brand strategy, corporate communications, customer evangelism, internal communications, influencer relations and business-to-business marketing has helped companies as diverse as Sony Ericsson, Cingular Wireless, Sergeant’s Pet Care, Ballard Power Systems, National Hydrogen Association, Hewlett Packard and Kodak.   

Patrick has held senior marketing and communications positions on both sides of the wall – in-house and with leading global agencies. Prior to founding Expand Communications, he served as a vice president at Ketchum where he helped create the agency’s innovative Influencer Relationship Management (IRM) program, and was responsible for the first go-to-market implementation.  Prior to that, he was a vice president at Ogilvy Public Relations where he developed and managed successful marketing, business-to-business, brand strategy and corporate communications programs for companies across industries.

Patrick has been interviewed and quoted on marketing and communications issues by publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Advertising Age, AdWeek, BrandWeek and Chicago Tribune.  He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science/Public Administration and a Master of Business Administration from San Jose State University.
